A Rain Out Sunday Might have Sparks A Few New Start…

My Family, My Life, Thoughts No Comments »

It was a rainy Sunday in the east of this small little island. The rain was really heavy and it rained from the late morning till the evening time.

“What a complete wash-out of a beautiful Sunday”, I thought to myself at 11.45am . :???:

Today could have been a day full of activities for me, as I had planned to go out for a swim, meet my friends for coffee and than a dinner with family and maybe to catch a show.  However, it was not meant to be.

I don’t normally like raining days, as at times I felt trapped by it and it immobilised me from doing the things i want to do, especially when i was about to go out or when I’m outside wanting to go home or going to another places.

I only liked it when I’m about to go to sleep or taking a nap, a raining weather always help to cultivate the sleepiness.

Therefore, without surprise I began to feel sleepy and I slept my half Sunday away.

Upon waking up, I was mad about myself as I could have spent the sleeping time to do something else, like work that still waiting for me to accomplish, calls that I supposed to make, tasks that I supposed to do and many more things……. I was really mad  but suddenly, another thought strikes me, and it was saying…

”Cool it! Jones!!! relax, no need to be angry, just ask yourself when was the last time you get to enjoy an afternoon nap and allow yourself to wake up naturally….was it just yesterday? a few week ago or was it a few months ago?” and the answer was it might be more than 6 months ago.

I can’t really remember when  was the last time I had a good “lazy” Sunday afternoon nap and it really does seem like a long long time ago.

Regardless, it just make me felt that like I deserved this nap.

Not long after I woke up, I noticed that my family members had also slept through the afternoon too and my mum, my sister and bro, soon woke up one after another and the time was about 5.30pm.

Interestingly, when we were all up and went sitting down on the sofa, we were  looking and smiling at each other, that feeling was like so warm and it was like, “oh man, this is a good Sunday”

At this moment, I also realised that, it been a long long time since the family had a real good chance of sitting down as a family infront of the TV set after waking up in our nature state, in a sunday evening.

Soon , my mum asked if we were hungry and we said ”Yes” and she started cooking, next thing we knew, we were eating dinner together, watching “Shrek the Third” on TV, followed by NEWS and “超级星光大道6″ together.

Nothing much was said during the process, but it was a really warm and cosy evening and it’s like “WOW” it’s a feeling that I had not have experienced for a long long time.

It might sounds normal Sunday for many of you out there, but for me, this Sunday had been a priceless moment for me.  Maybe, my guess is that I might have been doing so much things and running everywhere for the past few months that I had forget that a Sunday like this is just what I really want for now.

And of course a moment like this,  has also sparked me to start blogging down my thoughts again. (after 8 months) so, Welcome back, my friends.

IT RaIned and SooN therE wAs a RAINBOW..@ ShiNEs….

At Work, My Life, Thoughts No Comments »

The weather for past few days were really crazy, it could be sunny and shiny for one second, and the next moment, is pouring like no body’s business. It was not just a normal rain but a thunderstorm for the past few days, the thunder and lightning was so furious to a point that it even struck on our Singapore icon, Merlion’s head. Poor Merlion, not only it lost some of its mane but its left ear as well.  Damaged Merlion

Man, for me, it’s really a love-hate relationship with the rain. I mean, I love it when it is a thunderstorm, especially I want to stay and rest at home, the cold yet comfortable and dark feeling provide the best enviornment for me to take a good nap. However, when it comes to having activities to do, I hate it when it rains, almost 100 percent of the time, you will be trapped indoor with nothing much for you to do.

I don’t know about you, but it happened to me alot time and most recently, I was trapped by the rain again. This time round just a few days back  I was trapped once again in the evening, luckily, I was trapped in office which is still not so bad, at least I can stay back and still do my work.

Frustrated at first, as it was already late in the evening and I’m trapped and doing some stuff that I didn’t want or didn’t plan to do. The mood I had at that moment was exactly like the weather, DARK, CLOUDY,RAINY and HEAVY.

Guess without much choice, I found my energy back and focus on finishing  a clients’ video that I had started doing on that day itself, and soon without much of my realisation, an hour went by and the rain had stopped.

And surprisingly, I had just finished my video clip. Ha, decided that since I was “trapped” for more than a few hours(including office hours) becuase of the rain, I went out to take a breather… and below was what I saw….rainBow@ Shinesrainbow@shines

And Yes…IT  was a “WOW” a rainbow…. it was the largest rainbow I ever saw in Singapore, and my mood just changed in a instant. Suddenly, my cold, cloudy and heavy feeling was replaced by the warm, shiny and beautiful rainbow and it made me felt so light, calm and peaceful. “Ah, that’s is so nice” I talked to myself as I looked up onto the rainbow, “Guess it’s not a bad day after all….” and soon, I packed my bag and was on my way home.

Come to think of it, it was such a interesting evening for me, at one point Iwas grumbling about being trapped and had to stay back in office and did some of my work and not long after, I was a happy man, with my my video clip done and enjoying the beauty of the rainbow. Such an irony.

Well, I guess that’s life isn’t it, at one moment, it can be dark and cloudy and at the other moment, it can be bright and shiny with a rainbow beautifying it.

Just a note to end this post off, remember my friends, life is much like a rainbow, you need both the SUN and the RAIN to make the RAINBOW appears… so learn to learn both the “SUN” and the “RAIN” so that your RAINBOW can appear…
