YEAH!! I GOT A NEW TOY!!! THE NEW iPOD TOUCH WOHOO!!!

Gift, My Life, Shopping No Comments »

Oh boy!!! Am I Happy??? You BET!!! I’m a Happy Boy/Man!!!!  Wahahaha!!!

I had been toying with the idea of getting an iPod Touch since my last iPod Shuffle went “swimming” in the washing machine last year.

YES!!, IT (iPod Shuffle) “drowned” after just spending less than 6 months with me.

And believe it or not, that Shuffle was my 1st ever mp3 player in my life!!!

Before that, I had a Sony radio receiver that is still workable till today. I had it with me since my army dayz, however, it started to give me problems for the past 2 years, like it would auto shut down, auto reset and deleting all the preset radio channel by itself. It was really irritating  for me to keep on re-setting the channel again and again and because of that ,I had stopped using it since last year.

I’m a guy who enjoys listening to music when I’m on my way to work or travelling to places, so when my Shuffle gave up on me, I felt weird when I got nothing to listen to.  And that’s why I want to get another mp3 player after my receiver and Shuffle had given me their best.

And for the past few months I had been actively looking for a player that I like and that the reason why I ended up with the iPod Touch….. But why iPod Touch and not any other brand or player??? Well, I guess because I’m a guy and I can be a sucker for technology too and my mind was set on iPod Touch was largely due to a video clip that I saw while looking at the features of different players.

So after watching the clip, the rest was history………….

IT ShoW 2009. S$58.5 millions!!Crazy!!ANd A few hundreds was mine!!

My Life, Shopping, Thoughts No Comments »

Guess most had already known that the just ended I.T. Show at Suntec City had racked in S$58.5 million in revenue. Man, that’s hell lots of money in the current economy downturn…Aren’t we suppose to be more money savvy rather than spending too much???  It is the financial crisis now, isn’t it???? These people, don’t know what are they thinking.. ha!

Hahaha, guess what, I was also one of the “culprit” that had contributed to the record-breaking sales number. Although, I didn’t make any big purchase, I still spend a few hundred on the last day of the I.T. Show. I bought myself, a TARGUS, Laptop bag that costs me $113, and spend hundred dollars for my printer ink cartridges.

Well, as I was squeezing through the crowd, I was really thinking that “Wow, are you sure, we are in crisis, or is that that Singaporean are really rich that they don’t feel the damage done by the economy?”

Frankly speaking, I do not have any answer to that. All I knew was that I was there too, despite the downturn, I was still looking for things to buy and I was willing to spend even though I doesn’t belong to the “rich” category (I’m still in debt hahha

Maybe, I guessed that given the situation and I think people just really want to spend and make themselves happy, besides, the prices for the items were really affordable. So, I think it is really good that people are still spending, not only it’s helping the economy but at the same time, it makes the seller and buyer happy too. I just hoped that, the spending is a calculated spending and not splurging.

As long as the deal is worth it, then why not? Just like mine, I paid $113 for my new laptop bag but in return I got 2 more bags for free, one Targus sling laptop bag as a free gift for purchase above S$100 and the other, a Outdoor Diaper Bag from the sure-win quick dip. 3 Bags with good quality for the price of S$113, I felt that I got myself a great bargain. So, really, no harm to spend some money, right?

Well, really, the thinking I have now is really, despite the financial situation, and given that I’m aware of my own cash management, I will still continue to spend. So If there is another sale or show going on, you bet, I will still be there looking out for a good deal and do my part to help the economy.

Nike SHOOT II FG Gold… my new soccer bOOts

My Life, Shopping, Thoughts No Comments »

Can YOU believe it!!!! I actually had to queue for close to 15 mins just to enter the NIKE Warehouse Sale at Singapore EXPO back on the 8 Feb.

That was the first time that I ever need to queue in order to do some SHOPPING!! I mean, it is understandable to queue for collection for the race pack for the Stand. Chart. Marathon, but to queue for entrance for a NIKE sale??, it’s nuts!!!

In my mind, I was telling myself, the sale better be good, if not I will really made the wrong decision to find time from my hectic schedule to shop.

And guess what!!!! there’s really nothing much at all!!! Ergh!!! There were little selection for the clothing and even those available are really some backdated design and some weird and  dull coloured apparels. It was hugely disappointing, and I wanted to curse myself for wasting time  but thankful, their shoe segments was still not too bad, and there were a good range for selection and that was where, I managed to my trip make worth-while.

For s$50, I was able to get my new soccer boots, the golden NIKE shoot II FG. HAHA!! Yes, it is shiny gold! Heard that this model was designed to provide stability while on the pitch and  for superior ball control and accuracy as well.

But frankly speaking, I don’t give a damn, all I know was that that the purchase had neutralise my disappointment with the NIKE sales and it had make my time worth-while and interestingly this incident made me realised something too.

I guessed, that something  was that no matter how BAD the situation turned up to be, you are still about to find something that can make you happy, all you have to do is just LOOK….. just like this NIKE Sale which was a disappointment for me but I’m still happy as I managed to find and purchased a pair boots that I liked.

Oranje!! the Color of the Dutch Football team ANd my NEw YeAR Jacket!!

My Life, Shopping 3 Comments »

Netherlands' JacketORANGE, ORanje( in dutch)!! is the theme color for my new year clothes. In fact, I had bought the Netherlands National Football Team’s jacket as my new year clothes.!! (Ha! I been longing to buy the jacket, and since it was on sale and Chinese new year is here, NO need wait anymore, just buy man, hahaha!!)

Guess, I begin to like the color, ORANGE  more and more in recent times. Especially, things around me had been linked with orange. For example, my working Polo T-shirt is orange,  my Salomon shoes are orange, my fav. national soccer team’s team colour is orange and even my ANG BAOS from my parents are Orange!!!Ha, well, I think orange is quite a good color, it is bright and eye-catching and I think it brings up a person mood when people see this color. So I think Orange is really good!!

Ha, even thought I might looking like  big walking “mandarin” when I’m wearing the jacket, I still fell good! I don’t know why, but the color just brighten up my day. Beside, if you know how to mix & match well, I think Orange can be a great fashion color, don’t you agree?  HaHaHa!

My latest “Prized/Priced” Asset, Yikes! Ha!

My Life, Shopping 1 Comment »

HO Ho HO!! Is early Christmas for me man!! Why? That’s because, I bought myself a gift! Ha! and it is a new puma titanium frame spectacles with the authentic Transition Lens!! It costs me a total of $350!!! this is my most expensive spectacles ever!! Whoo, can feel the burn in my wallet and the hole in my pocket man!!

Well, actually, is not really a gift lah, and I really need a new spec. and that’s because just a few days back, my old spec broke and I do not have a spare one, Therefore, I have no choice but to make a new one ha!(perfect excuse!!)

Of cos, I know that I don’t need to buy such an expensive spec, but then again I’m used to wearing transition lens and this time round, I was looking for a light weight and sporty yet smart looking frame… So i went to my fav. spectacles shop (Precious Eyes) at my home area to look for my new spectacles. I always loved to go there as the service is always tip-top, the husband and wife team also make you feel at home and they will always do a fact-find first before they make a recommendation. As usual, when I was there, the lady boss will start to ask for my requirement and expectation and after hearing what I say, she introduced this puma design to me.

Ha, it was a great recommendation man, I will say. The frame feels damn light lah, it is also very comfy and furthermore, the design is simple, sport yet smart and is straight to the point, no complicated design. Ha, so it didn’t took me quite long to decide on this design and one of the main reason I think is that this puma spec fits all my requirement except for the price of cos, but then again, this is a once in a blue moon kind purchase, and since it also make me happy, so why not, right??

Hahaha, Yup, so that’s my latest prized asset ha, and from today onwards, you will start to see me wearing my new specky liao!! Cheers!

An Eye for a Bargain…

My Life, Shopping 1 Comment »

Yeah Yeah!, I bought a new shoe for myself recently. It’s a Salomon’s Latest Model called the “XT Wings”, whose retail price is at S$229.00. And Guess what? I bought it at S$190.30 and it still comes with an entry to the Salomon’s inaugural X-trail 10km, plus the goodies bags with includes a Salomon Running Tee-shirt and a Salomon’s shoe bag.

Not too bad a package right!! hahaha.

Need to thank the World of Sports(WOS) Sale Assistant and of course my own observation, if not, I will never get to chance upon such a good deal(actually to me, to me it is more of a marketing blunder that I spotted ha).

What happened was, my adventure shoe that I used for work, give way last weekend when I was helping with my friend, Joanne’s adventure race event called, ACE Adventure Challenge V. and that the reason why, I need to get a new pair of shoe, if not I got no footwear to wear to work.

Anyway, as I was shopping around on Monday(13th October 08), I decided to settle on the Salomon brand since I never own a pair of Salomon before. So I ended up at WOS as they are the only sports shop in major shopping mall that carry the brand nowadays.

After going through a few models, I decided to go for the “XT Wings” even thought it is the most expensive at S$229. I’m quite a sucker for shoe, I will buy the shoe as long I like the design and i feel is worth it.  Plus Thinking that my Sister is a WOS Member, I thought I could ride on it to get a 15% discount for my new purchase and hence I decided to buy the shoe. so lets do some math calculation here.

As a WOS member the shoe will cost S$194.60 and I was ready to pay for it until the sales assistant told me that my sister’s card has expired!!! and if i still want the shoe I have to pay the full retail price at S$229.At that point I was like “What? if it is S$229, I don’t think I want to buy the shoe.”

So as I was deciding whether should i continue to make the purchase, the Sale Assistant suggest that why not called any of my friends who is a WOS member and he will still give me the member discount.  I was like “OK, if you don’t mind waiting I will call a few friends to see who is a member.” So as I was walking around the shop making some calls, I saw the Salomon X Trail Run Poster and on that poster I saw the following print”

It says” sign up now to get a limited Salomon Racing tee, A Salomon shoe and a 30% off any Salomon regular priced product.” and immediately in my mind, I was like” Wait a min, if i sign up for the race and i use the 30% the shoe that I want to buy will only cost me $160.30 (30% discount on S$229). plus the registrationfee of $30, I still get the limited Salomon Racing tee and a shoe bag. Doesn’t that make it more worth it?”

SO with the that though in mind I went up to the Sale Assistant and told me about what I had found out on the poster. Together with him and a calculator, we calculated out the following solution.

Solution A) Buy the shoe with WOS member discount will cost me S$194.60 and I will only get the shoe only

Solution B) By signing up for the race at $30, I will get a Salomon tee and a Shoe bag plus a 30% discount for a new Salomon purchase and that mean the shoe i want to buy will cost me $160.30 only. So plus the registration fee. At S$190.30, I not only get the shoe, but also an entry to the race, a race tee and a shoe bag, plus I save S$4.00 more!!

So need I say more??? Of Course, I went for the solution B and I went home a happy man on Monday hahaha!!!
