A Rain Out Sunday Might have Sparks A Few New Start…

My Family, My Life, Thoughts No Comments »

It was a rainy Sunday in the east of this small little island. The rain was really heavy and it rained from the late morning till the evening time.

“What a complete wash-out of a beautiful Sunday”, I thought to myself at 11.45am . :???:

Today could have been a day full of activities for me, as I had planned to go out for a swim, meet my friends for coffee and than a dinner with family and maybe to catch a show.  However, it was not meant to be.

I don’t normally like raining days, as at times I felt trapped by it and it immobilised me from doing the things i want to do, especially when i was about to go out or when I’m outside wanting to go home or going to another places.

I only liked it when I’m about to go to sleep or taking a nap, a raining weather always help to cultivate the sleepiness.

Therefore, without surprise I began to feel sleepy and I slept my half Sunday away.

Upon waking up, I was mad about myself as I could have spent the sleeping time to do something else, like work that still waiting for me to accomplish, calls that I supposed to make, tasks that I supposed to do and many more things……. I was really mad  but suddenly, another thought strikes me, and it was saying…

”Cool it! Jones!!! relax, no need to be angry, just ask yourself when was the last time you get to enjoy an afternoon nap and allow yourself to wake up naturally….was it just yesterday? a few week ago or was it a few months ago?” and the answer was it might be more than 6 months ago.

I can’t really remember when  was the last time I had a good “lazy” Sunday afternoon nap and it really does seem like a long long time ago.

Regardless, it just make me felt that like I deserved this nap.

Not long after I woke up, I noticed that my family members had also slept through the afternoon too and my mum, my sister and bro, soon woke up one after another and the time was about 5.30pm.

Interestingly, when we were all up and went sitting down on the sofa, we were  looking and smiling at each other, that feeling was like so warm and it was like, “oh man, this is a good Sunday”

At this moment, I also realised that, it been a long long time since the family had a real good chance of sitting down as a family infront of the TV set after waking up in our nature state, in a sunday evening.

Soon , my mum asked if we were hungry and we said ”Yes” and she started cooking, next thing we knew, we were eating dinner together, watching “Shrek the Third” on TV, followed by NEWS and “超级星光大道6″ together.

Nothing much was said during the process, but it was a really warm and cosy evening and it’s like “WOW” it’s a feeling that I had not have experienced for a long long time.

It might sounds normal Sunday for many of you out there, but for me, this Sunday had been a priceless moment for me.  Maybe, my guess is that I might have been doing so much things and running everywhere for the past few months that I had forget that a Sunday like this is just what I really want for now.

And of course a moment like this,  has also sparked me to start blogging down my thoughts again. (after 8 months) so, Welcome back, my friends.

Dad Is back!! BUt he wAs BACk aS A muCh “POoreR” mAn and also a”RicheR” man… …

Accident, My Family, My Life, Thoughts No Comments »

Whoo HO!! Another Year had passed and is Chinese New Year (CNY) again!! That will also means my Dad is once again back in Singapore to celebrate the CNY with us! Yeah!

For those who are not aware, my Dad actually works as a Chinese cook in Netherlands. He had been working there for the past 21 years and normally he will work for the whole year and will only come back to Singapore when it is CNY time!!

So here he is, back in Singapore. In fact, he had just arrived to Singapore today! He touched down at Changi airport T3 at  about 6.30am!!

So for us, every year, CNY is an important festive season for my family, this is where the real reunion happened. Dad is back, everyone is around, my aunties and uncles and cousins will all come together as one big family to spend the CNY together. It is always a season I look forward to.

So at the airport we were, preparing to welcome Daddy’s home-coming. At 7.00am, from the far end of the luggage belt no. 42, he was there, looking smart in his coat. Our Dad is Back!

Normally upon seeing him, our family will be pretty excited, however this time round, the mood did not start up right unlike the past few years. The reason for that was because just 1 day before he was leaving for Singapore, something not so good had happened to my DAD. The incident happened when he was on his way to the Amsterdam Airport. HE WAS PICKED-POCKET!!!!

Gone with the criminals were my dad’s wallet with his credit card, identity card and most importantly were the 2500 euros!!! That’s about S$4000 all gone!! There goes his hard-earned money and the money for New years goods, the hongbaos for the singles and young ones and of course plus the funding for our family Hong Kong trip.

You guessed it, upon receiving him at the arrival hall, we could see our Dad was extremely disappointed. Devastated was the other word to describe his face, but not long after, the disappointment soon turned to a state of relief as he said “Well, at least my passport and air tickets were still with meand I’m still in one piece and i’m able to be back here celebrating CNY with my family.”

“Wow, that’s my Dad.” I thought to myself, and I totally agreed and impressed with his response about the mishap that had happened to him and soon, I added “Agreed with you Dad, glad you are back safely, lets hope the money can give and bring some joy and food for the pick-pockets over CNY. Now, Let’s go home.”

With that, and a big family hug with Dad,Mum, my two sisters and my brother. Off we went, looking forward to receive the Annual Lunar New Year!!
